《 Manifesto Identity》——Josip Kalava

He just use two colors, black and white .Working with negative space and contrast, his work has negative space and contrasts ,I think black and white are the two strongest contrasting colors ,and when they are put together they immediately show a sharp contrast and give a strong feeling.

I thought in particular, negative space combined with geometrical optics ,they are enhance the contrast of the whole work. When I saw his work, I get stuck in them.Negative space is something I've never encountered before, i think it's a kind of photography or a little bit of post-production work,it makes the subject and light more prominent, so that the viewer can see clearly, it also helps to create the imagery.Negative space is more open, which can open up the imagination of the viewer and let many hidden elements trigger the imagination of the viewer outside the picture, and I thought the important thing is the way the photography sees the world while observing the world, he must think about how to deal with the science in front of him.Photography does not completely copy the reality in front of him, but expresses his heart in his own way.I like it, i thought I will try this method of photographic composition. In addition ,I like geometric optics very much. For example, this work will let you look at it from time to time, and you will have a feeling of being sucked into it. It's a graphic design but it's not static it's dynamic ,moreover, the work is also symmetrical with the theme, and the declaration should be a proclamation that expresses public opinions on major issues to publicize the call, it's about having a sense of being lost and reflective.

I think it's something I'm worth learning about, maybe I don't know how to do geometry with computer now but I like it and I like to draw something, like use some contrasting colors, like purple and orange, blue and yellow, green and then I will draw some solid shapes and then  I use the contrasting color to show how it feels.

And in this project the first thing that attracted me was the sense of space in black and white, and the second thing was that he used different lines to show the typeface but it was not obvious, so that the viewer could find the typeface so that there was an interaction between people and the work.

《Inside the White Cube》

It 's the book by Brain O'Doherty, it's to investigate things in relation to their context, and to come to see the context as formative on the thing and, finally, to see the context as a thing itself. He discussed this toward context in twentieth century art, and he said what is does to the viewing subject, and, in a crucial moment for modernism, how the context devours the object, becoming it.He said "the outside world must not come in, so windows are usually sealed off. Wall are painted white. The ceiling becomes the source of light....The art is free, as the saying used to go, 'to take on its own life'. The purpose of such a setting is not unlike the purpose of religious building ——the artworks, like religious verities are to appear " untouched by time and its vicissitudes.".He describes the modern gallery space as" constructed along laws as rigorous as those for building a century church.White cube suggests the eternal ratification of the claims of the caste or group sharing that sensibility. As a ritual place of meeting for members of that caste or group, it censors out the world of social variation, promoting sense of the sole reality of its own point of view and, consequently, its endurance or eternal rightness.

In my opinion ,I think that's the beautiful things out of the windows can not come in, or to be looked outside, so the subject matter is to be looked back. And I thought if the project which has color and put it in the white space, I think people can pay more attention to that work, and maybe I can try something in my work, like the major object is background, and the minor object is on the foreground that something people can see at first, but when people go to the other side they can see different things.

Artists

And I find some artists work which about the white space, some of just painting and some of collage, I chose some of work I like maybe it's not just I like I thought some of are useful to my project, maybe I can learn some painting and combine to my work.

I think that in this painting, although the sitter is probably using a very thick acrylic white paint on it and I think it's really nice, because this alone gives a sense of texture. But what makes me reflect on is why he did not paint the whole picture, but there was space in the lower left corner, but this degree of incompleteness gave me a different feeling as if it was unfinished, I didn't know why it gives me an itch and makes me want to fill it up, but if this piece is painted all over, I feel like there's nothing particularly attractive about it. And if when i look closely I see that he's not drawing in one direction and also get this irregular texture.I think I can also use this incompleteness in my work, maybe it is not necessary to paint the best.

He use different white materials I saw the white paper, white cloth, white needle and thread. White materials with different textures and then different kinds of white are actually in contrast. And there seems to be a knife mark in this work. The artists seem to like to present  such incompleteness, like in this work he use a knife mark to destroy the white cloth and makes it like irregular lines, and he put a rectangular piece of white paper in the top left-hand of the corner of the piece of cloth, which always makes me think about what might be in this little white space. It reminds me of negative space, but what I like the most is the feeling of using different white materials and different white contrast. Maybe in my work, I can use this way.

This painting also shows a contrast between black and white. And then I think the while texture in this picture is so vivid that it feels very realistic, what didi he print on it in think. I would choose to make my paintings with this kind of looming feeling. If I were to do this feeling I would probably find the texture of what I'm going to do or make or print the texture of what I'm going to do, and then carve it into the board and then paint it unevenly with the paint I want, and then print it on my painting or I can apply a thin layer of waterproof glue directly on the paper, a line may have some glue in others, and then apply the color. I think this kind of feeling will also appear.

These abstract shapes had nothing to do with the existing world. Instead, they represented a new beginning ,from which a new culture' could develop. In this work, the colorful geometric forms convey a sense of agitation and movement.

Although using a lot of different colors, but using different shapes to express without looking messy.  Some of these shapes are so tightly connected, some are so dispersed that it gives me a sense of space, a sense that these shapes are floating in this space. I might try to give my painting or my front a sense of depth and a sense of space between each other.
